A disturbing video circulating on social media has revealed a violent incident at Techiman Senior High School (SHS) in the Bono East Region, showing two teachers assaulting a final-year student.

The video footage, which has sparked outrage, shows the two men assaulting the student, including stepping on the student's head. The teachers involved have been identified as Mr Jerry Jones Owusu Bekoe and Mr Adusa Ameyaw.

The incident has been referred to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for urgent investigation following instructions from the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, confirmed the directive in a Facebook post.

"At the instance of the Honourable Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, I have referred the attached disturbing video—said to be a violent incident at Techiman SHS involving some teachers and a student—to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service for urgent investigation," Dr Apaak stated.

He added that the Director-General has been directed to apply the necessary sanctions to the offending parties.

"Misconduct will not be tolerated in our schools from any stakeholder, be it teaching and non-teaching staff, students or parents. We have a mandate to ensure that our schools remain safe for all—students, teaching and non-teaching staff—at all times," he stated.

The GES, in a statement issued on October 31, 2026 and signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, said the school's disciplinary committee held its initial hearing on the matter.

"The committee's findings are expected to be submitted to Management through the Regional Directorate in the coming days to inform further action and decisions," the statement read.

The affected student has been identified as Seedorf Abeka Ampah, a final-year Agricultural Science student.

The GES said he has received medical attention and is responding positively to treatment.

The GES has urged the public to remain calm as it conducts thorough investigations into the matter.
