Dwivedi likely to focus on strengthening party organisation, save democracy campaign during maiden visit
BJP National General Secretary and State in-charge Harish Dwivedi, who is set to visit Karnataka on Monday for the first time after taking over the new responsibility, is expected to focus on issues related to strengthening the party organisation. He will be on a three-day visit to the State from Monday.
While the party State unit’s morale is high following the NDA partners’ clean sweep of all four Legislative Council seats from the teachers’ and graduates’ constituencies that went to the polls, Mr. Dwivedi is likely to make efforts to further build on this initiative that saw both BJP and JD(S) leaders working unitedly.
Mr. Dwivedi, who was earlier in charge of the party’s organisation in Assam, is likely to focus on the immediate requirement of preparing the party organisation for the elections to local bodies in the State.
He is set to hold a party State office-bearers meeting on Monday. The meeting is expected to take stock of political developments in the State, particularly those related to the SIR, the party’s good performance in the Council polls, and issues related to the State government’s administration, among others.
Some leaders are of the view that he may even focus on work related to various frontal organisations of the party.
Mr. Dwivedi, who is one of the party’s central coordinators for the ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign that is being seen as a counter-initiative against the Congress’s campaign against the SIR, is expected to review the party’s State unit’s preparations for carrying out such a campaign in Karnataka.
He will be participating in such a campaign, which will involve a padayatra in Kolar on Tuesday and Chitradurga on Wednesday before winding up his maiden State tour.
