Chinese nationals introduced to our concession after NAIMOS takeover – Northern Ashanti Mines

Northern Ashanti Mines Limited Company (NAMLC) has alleged that officials of the Minerals Commission and the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) attempted to hand over its mining concession at Konongo to some Chinese nationals following an operation at the site. In a letter dated October 31, 2026, addressed to the Director of Operations of NAIMOS, NAMLC’s solicitors, Vint and Aletheia, said the recordings showed what they described as an attempt to transfer the company’s concession to the Chinese nationals.

The company says CCTV footage installed at its mining facility captured the presence of the Chinese nationals, whom it claims were introduced to the site by officials of the two institutions.

In a letter dated October 31, 2026, addressed to the Director of Operations of NAIMOS, NAMLC's solicitors, Vint and Aletheia, said the recordings showed what they described as an attempt to transfer the company's concession to the Chinese nationals.

The lawyers said the footage and recorded conversations had already been shown on national television.

“Recorded conversations showed a criminal and illicit attempt by the Minerals Commission to hand over our Client’s lawfully acquired concession to the said Chinese citizens,” the letter stated.

The allegations follow an operation by NAIMOS officers at the company's mining concessions on October 22, 2026.

According to the lawyers, the officers gave NAMLC personnel 12 hours to vacate the premises. The company further claims that illegal mining activities have since continued at the concessions despite the presence of NAIMOS officers.

NAMLC also alleges that following the television broadcast of the CCTV recordings, NAIMOS officers attempted to access its server room to disconnect or switch off the cameras.

Its lawyers contend that the alleged attempt to interfere with the surveillance system could compromise evidence of activities at the mining site.

The company has consequently warned NAIMOS against accessing its server room or interfering with its CCTV infrastructure, threatening legal action against the Secretariat and any state official involved.

Meanwhile, NAMLC says it has commenced legal proceedings challenging the purported revocation of its mining leases and prospecting licences, as well as the takeover of its concessions.

An application for an interlocutory injunction against the relevant authorities, including the Minerals Commission and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, is pending before the court.

The company's lawyers have urged NAIMOS to refrain from further interference with its property and electronic records until the court determines the application.
