The interviews are scheduled to run for two days, beginning Monday, November 2, and concluding on Tuesday, November 3.
In an update posted on its official X account, the JSC said the candidates would be interviewed by the commission as part of the recruitment process to fill the Office of the Chief Kadhi.
The interviews will assess the shortlisted candidates’ suitability for the position, which plays a key role in the administration of Islamic law in matters falling within the jurisdiction of Kadhi’s Courts.
The Chief Kadhi heads the Kadhi’s Courts, which handle questions of Muslim law relating to personal status, marriage, divorce and inheritance where all parties profess the Muslim faith and submit to the court’s jurisdiction.
The recruitment process is being conducted by the JSC, the constitutional body mandated to facilitate the appointment of judicial officers and oversee the administration of the Judiciary.
The commission is expected to conclude the interviews after the final candidates appear on Tuesday. Further communication on the outcome and subsequent steps in the recruitment process is expected from the JSC.
