DMK seeks DVAC inquiry into Minister Rajmohan’s allegation of being offered bribery for post

‘The Minister did not report the offer to the DVAC or any other law enforcement agency; he made it public only on November 1, without disclosing the identity of the person who made the offer,’ said I. Paranathaman

DMK legal wing joint secretary I. Paranathaman on Monday lodged a complaint with the Director of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) into an alleged offer of ₹5 crore to School Education Minister A. Rajmohan from a person seeking appointment as president of the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram.

In his complaint, Mr. Paranathaman referred to the Minister’s allegation during the Tamil Nadu Day celebrations on Sunday (November 1, 2026) that the offer had been routed through Loyola Mani, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation.

“The Minister did not report the offer to the DVAC or any other law enforcement agency. He made it public only on November 1, without disclosing the identity of the person who made the offer. Since singer Pushpavanam Kuppusamy has been appointed president, the alleged offer of gratification was concealed by both the Minister and Mr. Loyola Mani. They have concealed evidence of the commission of an offence and are equally culpable,” Mr. Paranathaman said in his complaint.

He sought an inquiry into the alleged offer and the securing of records and communications among the Minister, Mr. Mani and the person who had offered the money.

Critics decry ‘Air Miles Andy’ after plane that took off from Stansted diverted to collect prime minister and wife A government-chartered plane taking Andy Burnham to a Commonwealth summit in the Caribbean made a stop-off in Manchester to collect him, Downing Street has said. The decision, which will have been more financially and environmentally costly than if the prime minister had travelled to London, leaves him open to accusations of hypocrisy after Labour repeatedly criticised Rishi Sunak for his use of private planes and helicopters for domestic travel when he was the prime minister.
