Facial recognition attendance system introduced as pilot project in SCCL’s Kothagudem Area

A facial recognition-based attendance system was introduced on a trial basis in the Kothagudem Area of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on Monday.

The initiative is part of the SCCL’s efforts to adopt technology in its employee attendance system to enhance transparency.

Biometric attendance systems are already in use at some General Managers’ offices in SCCL.

However, this is the first time the system is being implemented across the coal mines and departments of an entire area.

The initiative is aimed at promoting discipline and punctuality among employees and is expected to improve transparency and productivity, according to an SCCL press release.

SCCL has around 40,000 employees, of whom approximately 1,600 work in the Kothagudem Area.

The trial run began in the Kothagudem Area as a pilot project on Monday.

The system is expected to be extended to mines and departments in other areas in a phased manner.
