IRC summit to showcase Telangana’s growth, investment potential: Komatireddy

Nitin Gadkari to inaugurate

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy at a review meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat on Monday.

The 85th Indian Roads Congress (IRC) summit, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad from November 19 to 22, should be transformed into a global platform to showcase Telangana’s development, culture and investment potential, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said.

At a review meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat on Monday, the Minister directed them to make the event a precursor to the ‘Invest Telangana’ Global Summit scheduled to be held in December at Bharat Future City.

He said the IRC summit should not remain confined to technical discussions on roads and infrastructure but should also help attract investments, industries and employment opportunities to the State. Officials should prepare a special action plan to connect with potential investors and encourage them to participate in the December global investment summit.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would jointly inaugurate the four-day summit at HITEX on November 19. Union Ministers, Ministers from various States, senior bureaucrats, international delegates and experts from the engineering and infrastructure sectors are expected to participate.

Mr. Komatireddy, who reviewed the arrangements for nearly three-and-a-half hours, asked officials to establish a special ‘Telangana Pavilion’ at the venue to showcase the State’s history, culture, traditions, arts, tourism destinations and major development projects. Around 400 exhibition stalls would be set up as part of the event. He suggested organising cultural programmes every day, with Telangana artistes reflecting the State’s cultural heritage to the delegates.

The Minister also reviewed the progress of various Roads and Buildings Department projects. He asked them to expedite the construction of Alwal TIMS Hospital and the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital and make both facilities ready for inauguration this year. He also reviewed the progress of the Osmania General Hospital project, expansion of NIMS and construction of the new High Court building.
