‘I won’t tolerate false reports about Regina’s health, death or personal life’ — Ned Nwoko

‘I won’t tolerate false reports about Regina’s health, death or personal life’ — Ned Nwoko

The lawmaker said fabricated reports were worsening Regina’s emotional distress and warned that those responsible could face legal action.

Ned Nwoko has appealed to bloggers, social media commentators, fans and friends of his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, to stop circulating false reports about her health and personal life, including claims of her alleged death.

The Delta North senator appealed in a statement he posted on Instagram on Monday, months after his marital dispute with the actress became a subject of debate online.

Mr Nwoko, 65, urged those discussing the actress to respect her privacy and give her some breathing space. He said he made the appeal not only for Regina’s sake but also for their two sons, Munir and Khalifa.

He said: “I make this appeal not just for her sake, but also for the sake of the kids, who are very well cared for and deserve to see their mother supported, loved and given every opportunity to get better. Regina has been through a lot, more than many people may realise, and right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover.

“The video she shared on her birthday gave people a glimpse of some of the health challenges she has been dealing with. As someone who knows what she has been through, I can tell you that this is not a time to judge, vilify or add to her burdens. It is a time to show compassion and allow her the opportunity to heal.”

The lawmaker further raised concerns about false claims surrounding Regina’s supposed death, as well as misleading reports and other damaging content shared online.

She stressed that people should not dismiss such publications as ordinary social media activity, saying they caused the actress considerable emotional distress.

“Regardless of the difficulties we have faced, her well-being has always mattered to me. It is, in fact, the very concern that brought much of our private situation into the public domain.

“They do nothing to support her recovery; rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying. I appeal to her fans, who genuinely care about her, to help discourage this behaviour instead of amplifying it”, Mr Nwoko noted.

Additionally, the lawmaker warned that he would pursue legal action against anyone using anonymous social media accounts to spread false claims about the actress.

He said Regina deserved time and space to recover without facing a daily barrage of fabricated stories.

He said, “Those hiding behind social media accounts to invent stories, mislead the public and exploit her situation for clicks and engagement should stop immediately. We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels.

“There is a limit to what should be tolerated, and that limit has been reached. Regina deserves the opportunity to recover without being subjected to a fresh wave of fabricated stories every day.”

His remarks marked his first public comments about the actress in a year, since their marital crisis spilt onto social media.

In 2025, PREMIUM TIMES reported that the lawmaker and the 25-year-old actress attracted public attention for months amid allegations of domestic violence, drug abuse and other controversies in their marriage.
