A 34-year-old man is charged with 20 offences, including deprivation of liberty and torture, after allegedly assaulting a woman and forcing her into a vehicle.

Police have arrested 34-year-old Ryan Symonds after several days of searching and appeals to the public.

He has been charged with 20 offences relating to allegedly kidnapping a woman and weapons offences.

He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.

Police have charged a 34-year-old Feluga man with 20 offences relating to a series of incidents in Far North Queensland over the past week.

Ryan Symonds is alleged to have threatened a woman with a firearm at a Feluga address on the Cassowary coast on October 26, before assaulting her.

Police alleged he then forced her into a vehicle, taking her to an address in Tully where he left her.

He is also alleged to have forced her into a vehicle at another address in Aloomba, in the Cairns region, on Friday, October 30.

Officers began looking for the man and woman on Friday.

In a previous statement to media, Detective Inspector Kevin Goan said the woman had been assaulted on multiple occasions over several days while being held against her will.

He said she then managed to escape on Saturday morning and flagged down a police car.

Police found and arrested Mr Symonds yesterday on Mossman Daintree Road in Miallo. They said he also had a sawn-off shotgun.

He has now been charged with 20 offences, including two counts each of deprivation of liberty and choking, suffocation or strangulation in a domestic relationship, as well as one count each of assaults occasioning bodily harm, coercive control, dangerous conduct with a weapon and torture as domestic violence offences.

Mr Symonds was also charged with five other weapons and explosive-related charges, two motor vehicle offences, one count each of common assault and enter dwelling with intent and three counts of failure to appear in accordance with undertaking.

He was expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
