The desk is expected to connect African businesses with their potential markets within the continent.

The Chief of Staff applauded the organisers for the initiative and called for a diaspora beyond just remittances.

“We must see the diaspora beyond the form of support and remittances to our families. Diaspora can create businesses; Diaspora can create trade channels and businesses that will support economic growth across the continent. We commend the work of Elevate Africa in championing the African dream”.

Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, also urged the youth to develop a clear vision to transform the continent.

The Trade Desk was launched in a symbolic exercise to indicate the readiness of African countries to trade among themselves and provide a stronger front for investor engagements.

Elevate Africa believes the continent of Africa is ripe for more investments than concentrating on aid for development.
