Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy strongly countered Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s criticism of the Congress, saying that BJP leaders were daydreaming about coming to power in Telangana in the next Assembly elections.
The people of Telangana would not believe the BJP, which had allegedly orchestrated the deletion of around 13 crore voter entries across the country in the name of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission of India (ECI), he charged.
He was addressing a meeting after distributing house sanction letters to 187 beneficiaries under the second phase of the Indiramma Housing Scheme at Dammaigudem village in Tirumalayapalem mandal of Khammam district on Tuesday.
Strongly condemning Mr. Shah’s allegation of ‘RR tax’ during his address at a BJP public meeting in Hyderabad on Monday, Mr. Reddy alleged that the BJP-led Central government had failed to take action despite being provided with evidence of ‘irregularities and corruption’ in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project by the BRS government.
The BJP and the BRS were acting in tandem to mislead the people, he charged.
Mr. Reddy asserted that the Congress would return to power for a second term in Telangana in the next elections and that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was bound to become the Prime Minister.
He further said that the Congress would implement the Indiramma Housing Scheme across the country after coming to power at the Centre, fulfilling the dream of poor people of owning a house.
Later, the Minister laid foundation stones for various internal CC road works within the limits of Yedulapuram municipality in Khammam rural mandal.
