Teachers’ body seeks clarity on PGT, MPS Headmaster posts

NTA seeks a break-up of 24,904 vacancies and clarification on the cadre status of School Assistants discharging PGT duties in High School Plus institutions

The Navya Andhra Teachers Association (NTA) has sought clarity from the State government on the sanctioned posts of Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in High School Plus institutions and Headmasters of Model Primary Schools (MPS), stating that the details furnished in G.O. Ms. No. 156 have raised several questions.

In a statement on Tuesday, NTA State president K. Harikrishna and general secretary M. Srinivasa Rao said the government order showed 1,86,273 sanctioned posts and 1,61,369 employees in position, leaving 24,904 vacancies. However, it did not provide a separate break-up of PGT posts in High School Plus institutions or clarify the sanctioned strength of MPS Headmasters.

The association leaders said there were 292 girls’ and 210 co-educational High School Plus institutions in the State and sought details of the PGT posts sanctioned for them. They also sought clarification on the cadre status of School Assistants currently discharging PGT duties in these institutions.

Pointing out that the MPS Headmaster/School Assistant category had 9,656 sanctioned posts against 4,494 employees in position, leaving 5,162 vacancies, the association sought a detailed break-up of the vacancies, specifying the number of Primary School Headmaster (PSHM) posts and School Assistant posts.

The NTA leaders also expressed concern over the government’s failure to hold consultations with registered teachers’ associations for the past six months. They urged the authorities to revive the practice of consulting teachers’ organisations before taking decisions on service-related matters.

New Group review – schoolkids build human pyramids in bizarre Japanese horror-satire on conformity

Two outsider students at a super-strict high school find they are definitely not with the programme in Yûta Shimotsu’s body-bending sci-fi scarer Here is an intermittently amusing Japanese social satire about conformity directed by Yûta Shimotsu; it has flashes of brilliance but lacks the kind of engaging characters that could have taken it to the next level. Ai (Anna Yamada) is an unpopular pupil who has always tried to fit in, and Yu (Yuzu Aoki) is a transfer student who more deliberately resists the demands of peer pressure.
