2027: Thousands storm Ebonyi streets, declare support for Tinubu’s re-election

The marchers, estimated by organisers at 20,000, carried placards with inscriptions such as “Tinubu Beyond 2027”, “Tinubu Must Stay” and “We Believe in Tinubu”, while chanting solidarity songs for the President, Nwifuru and the All Progressives Congress (APC). Nwali said Ebonyi youths would defend the President’s administration, insisting that the South-East had benefited from federal projects executed under Tinubu, particularly through the Ministry of Works.

By Jeff Agbodo Ahead of the 2027 general elections, thousands of supporters of President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday staged solidarity marches across Ebonyi State, declaring support for his re-election and that of Governor Francis Nwifuru. The protesters, under the aegis of Ebonyi United Forum, were mobilised to counter what they described as sponsored anti-Tinubu protests.

Addressing the protesters in Abakaliki, Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, thanked them for demonstrating support for Tinubu, describing those behind the anti-government protests as misguided political opportunists seeking relevance.

Umahi argued that the opposition lacked a credible campaign message against Tinubu, whose reforms, he said, were repositioning the country for growth. Earlier, the leader of the march, Comrade Chinedu Nwali, said the rally was organised to reject what he described as political distractions and campaigns of calumny against Tinubu’s administration. Nwali said Ebonyi youths would defend the President’s administration, insisting that the South-East had benefited from federal projects executed under Tinubu, particularly through the Ministry of Works.

He declared that Ebonyi was firmly behind Tinubu’s re-election bid and would not provide a platform for anti-government protests. “While other states may be sitting on the fence, Ebonyians are not. We must show appreciation for the numerous projects Mr President has brought to the South-East and Nigeria through our son, the Minister of Works,” Nwali said.

He also pledged support for Umahi and Nwifuru, warning against what he described as politically motivated attacks on the trio.
