Bihar attracts 1,091 investment proposals worth ₹1.21 lakh crore in past one-and-a-half years

Compared with other states in India, where integrated manufacturing cities of this kind are being developed at 14 locations, Bihar is among the leading states working rapidly to implement this scheme on the ground, says Bihar Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh

Bihar Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh on Friday (October 23, 2026) said the State has attracted 1,091 investment proposals worth ₹1,21,863 crore since 2025. She added that these proposals have the potential to generate more than 68,807 employment opportunities in the State, calling Bihar as an “important investment destination”.

Addressing to media, she asserted that Bihar’s industrial development has been moving at a rapid pace under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s visionary leadership.

She pointed out that the state government’s emphasis on infrastructural development, coupled with a conducive environment, essential facilities, and investor-friendly policies have made it possible to attract such huge investment proposals.

Ms. Singh, who was accompanied by the Department Secretary Kundan Kumar said that the development of Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL), spread across approximately 1,670 acres in Gaya ji, is progressing rapidly. She added that this project has the potential to promote large-scale manufacturing activities, attract industrial investment, and generate new employment opportunities.

“The project is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary tomorrow (October 24, 2026) in Dobhi area near Bodh Gaya along with the launch of the web portal. Following this, the process of land allotment will begin,” Ms. Singh said.

Compared with other states in India, where integrated manufacturing cities of this kind are being developed at 14 locations, Bihar is among the leading states working rapidly to implement this scheme on the ground, she added.

Highlighting the importance of BIMCGL, Industries Department’s Secretary Kundan Kumar said that Bihar, for the first time, is developing an industrial manufacturing city equipped with all the ultra-modern facilities required for manufacturing.

“Now, the concept is evolving from an industrial area to an industrial city. This means that the city will have various amenities, recreational and sports facilities. At the same time, it will include all necessary pollution-control systems to ensure that the industrial park remains environmentally clean. This will include a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP). An Integrated Control and Command Centre will also be established there,” Mr. Kumar said.

He added that the state government is eyeing to attract investment from other countries like ASEAN and other Southeast Asian countries as a large number of people and tourists visit both Gaya ji and Bodh Gaya which are important centres for Buddhism.

Availability and expansion of industrial land

Stating that the state government has been working hard to make land available to entrepreneurs, the Minister said that the work is currently underway to make more than 14,600 acres of new industrial land available for industrial activities in Bihar.

Keeping future industrial requirements in mind, the land acquisition process is being advanced for the development of new industrial areas at 28 locations across 25 districts of the State, she said, adding that this will help strengthen land availability for large- and medium-scale industrial projects in Bihar.

Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has allotted 727.02 acres of land to 521 units from the beginning of the financial year 2025-26 to till date, Ms. Singh said, adding that these projects envisage an investment of ₹18,380.25 crore and the creation of 49,167 employment opportunities.

Besides, a network of 94 industrial areas has been developed in Bihar. Through the Bihar Semiconductor Policy 2026, initiatives have been undertaken to promote the development of advanced technology-based industries in the State.

A total of 47,075 beneficiaries have received assistance through six sub-schemes under the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneur Scheme (Mukhya Mantri Udyami Yojana). More than ₹3,414 crore has been disbursed under the scheme.
