Complaints to HR&CE Minister leads to cancellation of temple land lease

Complaints about misuse of property belonging to the Arulmigu Periyanayaki Amman sametha Senganmaalleeswarar Temple at Kelambakkam has led to the direct intervention of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister S. Ramesh, and the cancellation of lease to a private individual.

According to sources in the HR&CE Department, round 2.3 acres of land on OMR, meant for commercial use, had been leased out for a period of five years to an individual in 2025. That person had in-turn build around 50 shops on the land and sublet the shops. However, since Mr. Ramesh received several complaints pertaining to the misuse of lease conditions, he directed officials to retrieve the land.
