Amit Shah compares INDIA bloc’s mock Parliament to Maoists’ Jantana Sarkar

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addresses a gathering during the closing ceremony of 'Rajyotsav-2026 ' in Raipur on November 3, 2026.

Comparing the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’s (INDIA) recent mock Parliament session held over allegations of irregularities in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to Jantana Sarkar – a parallel, unconstitutional government run by the Maoists in their erstwhile strongholds – Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday (November 3, 2026) said the government was ready for an in-house debate on all issues, including SIR.

The mock Parliament was held at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s New Delhi residence on October 31 for a “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Addressing a gathering in Chhattisgarh’s Nava Raipur on the occasion of the concluding event of the three-day Rajyotsav of State-formation day celebration event, Mr. Shah accused the Congress party of always supporting unconstitutional governments and parliaments even as he targeted the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.

“He [Mr. Gandhi] used to support the fake Jantana Sarkar. Just recently, he even made a mockery of Parliament by setting up a mock parliament; he organized a ‘mock parliament’ and staged a discussion there. I want to tell you, Rahul-ji, that the Narendra Modi government is prepared to discuss every single issue. Let Parliament function; we are even ready to convene a special session for discussion on SIR. If you have the courage, then engage in a discussion before the people of this country,” he said.

He added that simply carrying the Constitution around did not amount to supporting it; one’s conduct must be constitutional. “You are the one who has brought the functioning of Parliament to a halt,” he said, referring to the Opposition.

Earlier, referring to the Jantana Sarkar, he claimed that the Maoists had their own separate Chief Minister, Home Minister and Finance Minister. “What kind of constitution permits a ‘parallel government’? Who gave you the authority to deliver ‘justice’? You hanged innocent journalists, social activists, and students from trees,” he said.

Accusing the Congress of consistently supporting Maoists, the Home Minister also referred to a statement purportedly made by then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram in 2010, claiming that Maoists were not required to surrender their weapons but should stop violence.
