Rahul Gandhi was born in family of Prime Ministers, he is not after PM post but nation’s interests: Jagga Reddy

TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday (November 4, 2026)
Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comment that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi can never become the Prime Minister, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president T. Jagga Reddy reminded that Mr. Gandhi was born in the family of Prime Ministers and he was not after the post but the nation’s interests.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Wednesday (November 4, 2026), Mr. Jagga Reddy said the Prime Minister’s post had always been within the reach of the Nehru-Gandhi family and Mr. Rahul Gandhi could have become Prime Minister in 2004 and in 2009 itself had he wanted the position.
Mr. Rahul Gandhi is not after the Prime Minister’s position like others in the Bharatiya Janata (BJP), Mr. Jagga Reddy said adding that Telangana Congress was ready to take up Mr. Shah’s comments as a challenge and work towards winning all 17 Lok Sabha seats in the State in the next parliamentary elections.
Referring to the BJP’s invocation of Lord Ram in its political campaigns, he said Mahatma Gandhi had sung Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram during the freedom movement, at a time when neither the BJP nor its leaders Narendra Modi and Amit Shah was born.
He said the BJP was always busy claiming exclusive ownership of Lord Ram’s name, pointing out that the Congress and Mahatma Gandhi had invoked Ram in their public life long before the BJP came into existence. Mr. Jagga Reddy said the BJP had come to power and the Prime Minister had secured three terms by invoking Lord Ram’s name, but was not following the ideals and path shown by the Lord.
