Sam George calls for dismissal of military officer over alleged misconduct in Ningo-Prampram

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has called on the Chief of Defence Staff to take disciplinary action against a military officer he accuses of leading an operation involving the seizure of trucks in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency. Sam George described Lieutenant Goh as a disgrace to the Ghana Armed Forces and urged the Chief of Defence Staff to dismiss him from the military.

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has called on the Chief of Defence Staff to take disciplinary action against a military officer he accuses of leading an operation involving the seizure of trucks in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency.

The minister identified the officer as Lieutenant Albert Goh and accused him and other soldiers of entering the constituency heavily armed, seizing trucks belonging to residents without lawful authority and mistreating local people.

Describing the alleged conduct as akin to armed robbery, Sam George said the military personnel had no justification for taking citizens' property.

“What you did yesterday was akin to armed robbery,” he said, directly addressing the lieutenant.

He also warned soldiers against returning to the constituency to brutalise residents, saying they would be held accountable under the law.

“Any soldier who comes to Ningo-Prampram to brutalise the people of Ningo-Prampram again, you will face the law of the streets,” he said.

Sam George described Lieutenant Goh as a disgrace to the Ghana Armed Forces and urged the Chief of Defence Staff to dismiss him from the military.

The minister further alleged that the soldiers had taken trucks belonging to residents and used them for about two weeks without lawful authorisation.

He said he would raise the matter with the Minister of Defence to ensure that the military authorities investigated the incident and held those involved accountable.

Sam George also accused the lieutenant of disrespecting a police commander who had attempted to engage him over the operation.

According to the minister, the commander, a Chief Superintendent, was disrespected, while some of the soldiers allegedly cocked their weapons at him.

He questioned the conduct of the personnel, saying their actions were inconsistent with the standards expected of members of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The minister said he had obtained the names of the soldiers involved and would pursue the matter through the appropriate military disciplinary channels.

He maintained that residents of Ningo-Prampram deserved justice and that the incident would not be allowed to go unaddressed.
