Tableau highlights Kishori Kendra, health schemes at Rajyotsava event

The Department of Health and Family Welfare showcases its public health initiatives in Raichur

The Department of Health and Family Welfare showcased its public health initiatives, including the Kishori Kendra and national health schemes, through a tableau during the 71st Rajyotsava celebrations in Raichur.

Raichur district in-charge Minister Ajay Singh flagged off the tableau. District Health and Family Welfare Officer Nandita M.N. briefed him on the initiatives featured in the tableau. The Minister appreciated the department’s efforts to promote preventive healthcare awareness.

The tableau highlighted the Kishori Kendra initiative of the Zilla Panchayat aimed at the holistic development of adolescent girls aged 11 to 18. The programme focuses on health, education and life skills. It has also been extended to adolescent boys.

Kishori Kendras are operational in Raichur, Deodurg, Jalahalli, Arkera, Sirwar and Gabbur with plans to extend the services to other taluk headquarters.

The initiative promotes awareness on child marriage, physical and mental health, nutrition and menstrual hygiene. It also seeks to bring out-of-school children back into formal education and equip adolescents with life skills, internet safety, self-defence, karate and yoga.

The tableau also showcased the Gruha Arogya Scheme, Namma Clinic, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram and dengue prevention measures.

The Gruha Arogya Scheme provides healthcare at people’s doorsteps, while Namma Clinics cater to economically weaker sections of society in urban areas. Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram focuses on early screening and intervention for health conditions and developmental delays in children up to 18 years.

Prepared by the department’s Information, Education and Communication wing, the tableau travelled from Kannada Sangha Bhavan to Mahatma Gandhi Stadium.

Deputy Commissioner Poovitha S., Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ishwar Kumar Kandoo and other officials were present.
