Mumbai Police’s South Region Cyber Police arrested three men, including the alleged mastermind of a share trading investment fraud racket, from Nagpur on November 2. Police said the arrests helped establish links to 73 cybercrime cases across India, including six in Mumbai.

A case has been registered at the South Region Cyber Police Station under Sections 318(4), 319(2), 338, 61(2) and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 66C and 66D of the Information Technology Act.

The accused have been identified as Amit Diliprao Kale, Ritik Shailesh Dhargave and Aniruddha Satish Uke. According to police, the trio allegedly established a bogus company, Grain Garden Delight Pvt Ltd, and used its bank account to receive and transfer money obtained through cyber fraud.

The investigation began after police traced ₹24.75 lakh from a share trading investment fraud case registered at the South Region Cyber Police Station to a current account opened in the company’s name at the Central Bank of India’s Jaripatka branch in Nagpur.

Based on technical analysis and information obtained from the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCCRP), a police team laid a trap in Nagpur’s Jaripatka area and apprehended Dhargave, who was listed as a director of the company.

Further investigation revealed that Kale, the alleged mastermind, and Uke had helped establish the shell company using fabricated rental agreements and other documents to open the bank account.

Police said Kale allegedly used a SIM card registered in Dhargave’s name and linked to the company’s bank account in his own mobile phone. The number was allegedly used to facilitate fraudulent transactions and coordinate with other members of the cybercrime network operating across the country.

During the operation, police seized 11 cheque books and passbooks linked to different bank accounts, 25 SIM cards, 11 rubber stamps belonging to shell companies, three stamp pads, debit and ATM cards, QR codes, PAN cards and documents related to bogus firms.

Police said analysis of the bank accounts and digital evidence linked the accused to 73 cybercrime complaints nationwide, including six in Mumbai.

The investigation was conducted by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Gopale, along with Inspector Bagwan, Assistant Police Inspector Ramdas Gopal and other personnel.
