Vijayananda Kashappanavar

Karnataka Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises Vijayanand Kashappanavar has approached the cybercrime police, alleging that unidentified persons circulated a fake and defamatory video targeting him on social media.

The Minister’s personal assistant has lodged an official complaint, alleging that the video was deliberately created and circulated with the intention of damaging the Minister’s reputation.

The complaint urged the police to initiate stringent legal action against those responsible for making the video go viral and tarnishing the image of both the Minister and the State government.

The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify those behind the circulation of the video.

The development comes amid a series of complaints by Karnataka political leaders over alleged fake videos and misleading content being circulated on social media.

A senior police official said that the complaint had been received and a preliminary inquiry launched. Based on the findings, further legal action would be initiated, he said.
