By Precious Enaike A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Onyekachi Onyekwere, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the political disagreement between Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and former governor Rochas Okorocha. Onyekwere, who spoke with journalists in Lagos, said resolving the differences between the two politicians was important to strengthening the APC and its mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged the people of Imo State to support Uzodimma, whom he described as a politician with considerable influence and mobilisation capacity in the South-East. “This is the best way to deliver the President come January 2027, and his efforts and commitment have never been in doubt. I would equally call on the President to urgently intervene in this matter.

“This is because the achievements of Governor Uzodimma speak volumes and, as an achiever, he is following the commendable footsteps of President Tinubu towards making Nigeria a better place to live,” he said. Onyekwere also called on the people of Abia State to support the APC governorship candidate, Eric Opia, whom he described as young and vibrant.

He urged APC members in the South-East to close ranks and work towards strengthening the party’s electoral fortunes in the region. “Igbos should not allow disagreements to weaken the ruling party, APC, in their land, and all efforts should be made to achieve success. Both Governor Uzodimma and Opia have worked very hard and deserve victory at the polls,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the South-East would benefit from supporting Tinubu and politicians in the region working towards his re-election. Onyekwere also praised the relationship between Tinubu and Uzodimma, saying the Federal Government’s support had contributed to development efforts in Imo State.
