KTR accuses Congress, BJP of compromising Telangana’s self-respect

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao took objection to the behaviour of Telangana BJP leaders during the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that their behaviour compromised with the Telangana self-respect.

Mr. Rama Rao criticised BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao for allegedly touching Mr. Amit Shah’s feet and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for behaving like a security guard in his presence.

“This reflected the humiliation of Telangana’s self-respect before the Delhi leadership,” he charged. He also targeted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy claiming that he was ill-treated by the party high command and this was nothing but an insult to Telangana.

He referred to an incident in which Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s security personnel allegedly objected to Mr. Revanth Reddy trying to meet Ms. Gandhi. “This reflected the importance being accorded to the Telangana Chief Minister within his own party,” he alleged.

This excessive subservience of both the Congress and BJP leaders of Telangana towards their party high commands compromised the State’s self-respect. He alleged that leaders of both parties were more concerned about pleasing their national leaderships than protecting Telangana’s interests. “Congress leaders carry the bags of their Delhi leadership, while BJP leaders carry their footwear.”

Questioning Mr. Shah’s Hyderabad visit, KTR asked what the Union Home Minister had brought to Telangana. He challenged the BJP leadership to name even one major Metro project, national project or premier educational institution sanctioned for the State. He alleged that Mr. Shah had returned without announcing any significant benefit for Telangana.

Similarly, Mr. Revanth Reddy was busy making rounds of Delhi instead of securing funds, investments and development projects for Telangana, he alleged.
