The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will chair the public presentation of six books authored by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kemi Pinheiro, on 20 November.

According to a statement shared with PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday, the presentation will be held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The books cover criminal litigation, corporate insolvency, arbitration, the legal profession and the relationship between law and faith.

They are Strategies in Criminal Trial: A Practitioner’s Guide; Insolvency Law in Nigeria: Practice and Procedure; Arbitration Law and Practice in Nigeria; Defining Moments: Chronicles of a Silk (Volume One); The Compendium; and MULAN Legal: Trending Issues of Law and Faith – Essays in Honour of ‘Kemi Pinheiro, SAN.

Mr Pinheiro was called to the Nigerian Bar in October 1987 and became a SAN in 2006. He established his law firm, Pinheiro LP, in 2001 and was appointed chairman of the Lagos State Law Reform Commission in 2020.

Strategies in Criminal Trial: A Practitioner’s Guide examines procedural and evidential issues in criminal proceedings, including the admissibility of electronic evidence.

Insolvency Law in Nigeria: Practice and Procedure examines corporate rescue, restructuring and insolvency proceedings under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020.

The Act introduced provisions on company administration and voluntary arrangements, giving financially distressed businesses options to restructure rather than proceed directly to liquidation.

The arbitration publication focuses on Nigeria’s arbitration framework, particularly the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.

The 2023 Act repealed the Arbitration and Conciliation Act of 1988 and introduced provisions on emergency arbitration and third-party funding, among other changes.

Defining Moments: Chronicles of a Silk (Volume One) recounts Mr Pinheiro’s professional journey, while The Compendium features contributions from legal practitioners and academics.

The sixth book, MULAN Legal: Trending Issues of Law and Faith – Essays in Honour of ‘Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, examines the relationship between law, faith and Nigeria’s plural legal system.

The presentation, organised by Pinheiro LP, is expected to attract members of the judiciary, the Bar, academia and other stakeholders in the legal profession.
