After milk and curd, prices of ghee, butter and paneer too up

The revised prices, released on November 4, will come into effect across the State from November 5.

After the prices of milk and curd were increased by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) upwards of ₹8 per litre, Bangalore Urban, Rural & Ramanagara District Co-Operative Milk Producers Societies Union Limited (BAMUL) has increased the prices of ghee, butter and paneer too.

The revised prices, released on November 4, will come into effect across the State from November 5. The prices were last hiked in July 2026, by 10%.

While earlier a one-litre ghee sachet was priced at ₹715, it will now be ₹850 per litre. Ghee pet jar, which was earlier ₹735, will now cost ₹870 per litre. For five litres, the price has increased from ₹3,575 to ₹4,250. Ghee tin of one litre has been increased by ₹120, from ₹750 to ₹870. For a 15-litre tin, the price is up from ₹11,625 to ₹14,000.

A 100 gm butter blister pack has been increased from ₹600 to ₹900, while a 500 gm butter salted pack is up from ₹310 to ₹380 and unsalted butter from ₹330 to ₹390. Paneer pack of 200 gm has been increased from ₹96 to ₹115 and one kg paneer pack from ₹480 to ₹485.

Criticising the move, P.C. Rao, honorary president of Bangalore Hotels Association, said, “This was expected, but it is a huge financial burden on the hotel industry. An additional 25% burden including milk, curd, paneer, ghee, and butter prices hike.”
