Cargill Kokoo Sourcing Limited has rewarded 563 cocoa farmers with standard pruning machines as part of activities marking 10 years of cocoa sourcing operations in Ghana.

The gesture forms part of the company's efforts to recognise farmers' contributions to the cocoa industry and support their farming activities.

The anniversary celebrations, held from October 28 to 30, 2026, took place across the 21 districts where the company has operated since its establishment in 2016.

The celebrations brought together cocoa farmers, traditional authorities, buyer agents, community representatives and other stakeholders to reflect on the company's decade-long operations and recognise the partnerships that have supported its growth.

In addition to the pruning machines, more than 2,000 farmers received company souvenirs in appreciation of their contributions to its operations.

Cargill Kokoo Sourcing said cocoa farmers remain central to its business, noting that their hard work, resilience and dedication sustain Ghana's cocoa industry, support rural livelihoods and connect farming communities to global markets.

The company also highlighted its contribution to youth employment, revealing that it had created opportunities for more than 700 young graduates who have worked as buyer agents over the past decade.

According to the company, the graduates have gained practical work experience and professional skills while supporting cocoa sourcing activities and building relationships with farmers across its operational districts.

Since commencing operations in 2016, Cargill Kokoo Sourcing has worked with farmers, buyer agents, traditional authorities and local communities to strengthen its sourcing network and promote responsible cocoa production.

As it looks to the next decade, the company says it remains committed to sustainable sourcing practices, stronger partnerships and creating opportunities for young professionals in Ghana's cocoa sector.

Cargill has been sourcing cocoa from Ghana for more than 40 years. In 2008, it established a cocoa processing facility in Tema, before adding a licensed buying company to its Ghanaian operations in 2016.
