Recruitment for more than 11,000 posts in Bihar’s health department to begin soon

Currently, updated details of vacant positions have been sought from all 38 districts of the state. All recruitments will be conducted at the State Health Society level

Bihar’s Health department is all set to begin the process to fill more than 11,000 administrative, technical and medical support positions.

Sharing the information, State Health Society Executive Director Nawal Kishore Chaudhary on Wednesday (November 4, 2026) said the official recruitment notification for this massive hiring drive is expected to be issued by the last week of this month.

Preparations for the recruitment process are almost complete, he said adding that a recruitment calendar will also be released shortly.

Currently, updated details of vacant positions have been sought from all 38 districts of the State. The information is being gathered from district-level health institutions, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Sub-Divisional Hospitals.

According to the Executive Director, recruitment will be carried out for several positions, including Staff Nurses, Laboratory Technicians, managerial-category posts, Block Health Managers (BHM), NME personnel at the block level, and clerical staff.

The recruitment for several other vacant positions will be undertaken in the second phase.

Mr. Chaudhary, added that the completion of the first phase of recruitment for more than 11,000 posts will undoubtedly bring significant and positive changes to Bihar’s healthcare sector.

“Dedicated teams will be made available at the block and panchayat levels to support doctors and paramedical staff, thereby improving the quality of primary healthcare services in remote areas especially in rural areas. The number of healthcare workers in district and sub-divisional hospitals will be better aligned with patient loads, reducing the excessive workload on existing employees, “Mr. Chaudhary said.

He pointed out that an adequate number of laboratory technicians and nurses will ensure that patients receive timely diagnostic reports and quality healthcare services. He mentioned that the appointment of Block Health Managers and clerical staff will also help ensure that government healthcare schemes reach the general public more efficiently and in, transparent and quick manner.

Mr. Chaudhary further stated that the recruitment calendar has almost been finalised and will be made public as soon as it gets approval from the authorities concerned.

The department’s primary objective is to complete the entire recruitment process- including selection, document verification and distribution of appointment letters- in a transparent manner within 6 to 7 months from the date of the issuance of the official notification, he added.
