To ensure broad public participation, the committee also incorporates representatives from various sectors, including elected public representatives, residents’ associations, human rights bodies, consumer protection forums, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), major colleges, and political parties.

To ensure a transparent and corruption-free civil service, District Collector M.S. Madhavikutty has issued an order constituting a District Vigilance Committee. The committee aims to curb corrupt practices in government offices while facilitating the speedy redressal of public grievances.

Formed in accordance with government guidelines and instructions from the Director of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), the committee will be chaired by the Collector. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (VACB) will serve as the convener, while the Range Superintendent of Police has been inducted as a special invitee.

The panel features district-level officers representing key departments, including Revenue, Police, Civil Supplies, Local Self-Government, Agriculture, Public Works, Kerala Water Authority, KSEB, Excise, Motor Vehicles, Registration, and Health.

To ensure broader public participation, the committee has also incorporated elected representatives, residents’ associations, human rights bodies, consumer protection forums, non-governmental organisations, and educational institutions.

The committee will convene once every three months. A detailed performance report will be submitted to the VACB Director through the District Collector. Members of the public with grievances against government officials can attend the committee meetings to present their cases.

According to officials, the committee has been vested with the power to summon any official related to a complaint and demand direct explanations. The order further specifies that received complaints will be discussed with the officials concerned to ensure immediate corrective action and resolution.
