YSRCP inciting violence due to fear of poll debacle, alleges TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao

The opposition party has attempted to win the ZPTC and MPTC elections through deceitful means and terrifying the voters as is evident from the alleged bomb attack near a polling station in Pulivendula, he observes

TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao.

TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao has accused the YSRCP of trying to win the ZPTC and MPTC elections through deceitful means and terrifying the voters.

“This is evident from the alleged bomb attack near a polling station in Pulivendula,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao said while addressing the media at the party central office on Thursday.

He said that YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was frustrated after his party received a severe drubbing in the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, which was the reason why his cadre resorted to violence. “The low voter turnout in Kadapa is due to the conspiracies of the YSRCP and Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy,” the TDP leader said.

The average voting percentage in the State stood at around 22. Anantapur, Chittoor and Kurnool districts registered a polling percentage of 30, 33and 30 respectively, he said, and claimed that while people came out freely to cast their votes, attempts were made to scare them away by intimidation and violence.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy had themselves flouted the norms during the ULB elections. The blatant violation of rules by the YSRCP leaders and workers were reported from several districts, he said, observing that the violence was conspicuous only in Pulivendula and Punganur.

The verdict given in the ULB elections was most likely to repeat in the ZPTC and MPTC elections, and the fear of defeat caused desperation in the YSRCP, he said, suggesting to Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to respect the people’s mandate and desist from creating chaos for political gain.
