Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has said Ghana’s economic progress must translate into greater financial security for its people, describing household wellbeing as a key goal of the New Economy.

The Minister made the remarks after hosting Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, whom he congratulated on her Financial Health campaign.

“A stronger economy must mean greater financial security for our people,” Dr Forson said.

His remarks linked the pursuit of a stronger economy to the everyday financial concerns of Ghanaians, including their ability to manage their money, provide security for their families and plan for the future.

Reflecting on the visit, the Minister said he was honoured to welcome the Queen and acknowledged her efforts to promote financial health.

“Earlier today, I had the honour of hosting Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. I congratulated her on her Financial Health campaign,” he said.

Dr Forson highlighted three connected ambitions for the New Economy. They are greater control over personal finances, stronger family security and increased confidence in the country’s future.

“Through the New Economy, we aim to give more Ghanaians greater control over their finances, greater security for their families and greater confidence in the future we are building together,” he stated.
