The President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Efua Ghartey, has cautioned newly enrolled lawyers against filming their first appearances in court or engaging videographers to record their entry into the courtroom.

She warned that the practice is not permitted and could expose lawyers who engage in it to disciplinary action.

Speaking at an event, Mrs Ghartey said the association had observed some newly enrolled lawyers recording their first appearances in court.

"We've seen some people take videos of their fresh legal steps into court. Please, it is not allowed. So please don't find a videographer to follow you as you enter the courtroom. It is not allowed," she said.

Mrs Ghartey acknowledged the enthusiasm surrounding the entry of new lawyers into the profession but said some had gone beyond acceptable limits.

"As seniors, we are enjoying what is going on, but some people have crossed the line, and we don't want to start calling for disciplinary matters," she added.

Her warning comes amid a growing trend of newly enrolled lawyers documenting their first court appearances, with some sharing the videos on social media.

The GBA President urged the new lawyers to respect the professional standards and decorum expected of members of the legal profession, particularly the rules governing conduct within court premises.
