The government has revised the curfew imposed on Hamile Township and its surrounding communities in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region, setting the new restriction hours from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am.

The curfew was initially from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am.

The revised curfew takes effect on Thursday, November 5, 2026, following a review by the Minister for the Interior, acting on the advice of the National Security Council and through an Executive Instrument.

The adjustment is expected to regulate movement during the designated hours as authorities work to maintain peace and security in the area.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 5, the government urged chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth and residents to exercise restraint amid the challenges confronting the area.

It also appealed to community members to use peaceful and non-violent means to express their grievances and contribute to restoring and maintaining peace.

Meanwhile, the government has maintained a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons by anyone in Hamile Township and its surrounding communities.

It warned that anyone found in possession of such weapons would be arrested and prosecuted.

The measures form part of efforts by the government to address security concerns in the area and prevent further disturbances.

Residents and other stakeholders have been urged to comply with the curfew and weapons restrictions to support the restoration of lasting peace and stability in the community.
