NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 6 – Lawyers and human rights defenders are expected to stage a peaceful protest in Nairobi on Friday, demanding accountability over the disappearance of advocate Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi.

Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama announced that the demonstration will begin at 9:00am outside Milimani Law Courts before proceeding along Kenyatta Avenue and ending at Vigilance House, the National Police Service headquarters.

In a statement shared on his official X account, Kanjama called on advocates, human rights defenders and members of the public to participate in the demonstration in solidarity with the missing lawyer.

“An attack on Advocate Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi is an attack on all of us,” Kanjama stated.

The lawyers are seeking accountability over Abdi’s disappearance and demanding his safe return.

The planned demonstration comes amid growing pressure on security agencies to establish the whereabouts of the advocate following court orders directing Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin to produce him in court, alive or dead.

The High Court has been handling proceedings arising from Abdi’s disappearance, with concerns raised over his whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his reported abduction.

The planned march to Vigilance House is intended to amplify calls for accountability and reinforce demands for the protection of lawyers and the rule of law.
