Pinarayi slams decision to remove ‘T’ branch of Vigilance from the ambit of Right to Information Act

The UDF government was choking the right to information to hide its corruption, Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan said on Saturday.

Mr. Vijayan was reacting to reports that the government had exempted T1 and T2 sections of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau from the purview of the Right to Information Act.

After claiming credit for the Right to Information Act, the Congress is now undermining the same legislation, he said. The Right to Information Act was born during the UPA government’s term due to the uncompromising stand and intervention of the Left parties.

The Congress leadership in Keralam is now afraid that the Act would expose their fraudulent activities one by one, the Leader of the Opposition alleged.
