The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women’s Wing has staged a demonstration in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region to demand justice for some female students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) allegedly sexually molested by the school's headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai, who is currently on interdiction.

The protest, held on Friday, November 6, by the NPP National Women's Wing was under the theme “Justice For Our Girls Demo”.

The demonstrators took to the streets to demand accountability for the alleged abuse, as well as greater protection for girls against sexual violence and exploitation, after a JoyNews investigation by Manasseh Azure Awuni exposed the headmaster's alleged activities.

They also called for the protection of the rights, dignity and safety of female students, insisting that schools must provide safe environments where girls can pursue their education without fear of molestation.

The demonstration follows allegations of sexual misconduct involving Mr Abdulai and some female students of the school, which have sparked public concern and renewed calls for accountability and stronger child-protection measures.

Through the protest, the NPP Women's Wing is seeking justice for the alleged victims and an end to violence against the girl child.

The protesters are also not happy that the matter has not been handled with the seriousness it deserves after the headmaster was arrested briefly and granted self-recognisance bail.
