Kerala PSC chairperson declines to appear for second round of questioning

He reportedly informed the Special Investigation Team of his decision in writing, while refusing to turn up for questioning in connection with the PSC examination irregularities case

Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) chairperson M.R. Baiju has declined to appear for a second round of questioning in connection with the PSC examination irregularities case.

He reportedly informed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of his decision in writing, while refusing to turn up for questioning on Thursday. The official has stated that he would decide on appearing for questioning only after the Kerala High Court delivers its final order on a petition filed by the PSC seeking to quash the investigation.

The SIT is presently awaiting legal advice before deciding on further action against the PSC chairperson.

Mr. Baiju had earlier appeared before the Crime Branch for questioning in the case, during which he attributed the irregularities to technical errors. However, statements provided by two arrested persons in the case as well as certain PSC officials during questioning appears to have purportedly brought the chairperson’s involvement under a scanner.
