Video: Surveillance footage shows suspects dumping body of 24-year-old Ghanaian, Joseph Owusu, in New York

Surveillance footage has emerged showing two unidentified individuals removing the body of 24-year-old Ghanaian Joseph Owusu from the boot of a white saloon car and abandoning it in the Bronx in New York. Owusu’s reported death comes barely a few days after 15-year-old Ghanaian Javits Frimpong was also shot dead in Bronx.

Surveillance footage has emerged showing two unidentified individuals removing the body of 24-year-old Ghanaian Joseph Owusu from the boot of a white saloon car and abandoning it in the Bronx in New York.

The footage, sighted on Friday, November 6, 2026, and shared by American broadcaster ABC7, shows the two individuals unloading a large black duffel bag from the vehicle during the night.

They are seen dragging the bag onto the pavement before driving away. Further footage from the following day captures another man placing the bag on a metal stretcher and wheeling it away.

Owusu's body was later discovered by a man searching for scrap metal, with his family and Ghanaian officials subsequently identifying him as the deceased.

His death has left his family devastated, with his brother, Kojo Yeboah, appealing for justice and answers about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“I need justice for Joseph. I want the truth to come out because my brother didn't deserve to die the way he did. He's only 24. He had a lot of living to do,” he said.

Yeboah, who was shown the surveillance footage, said he could not identify the individuals captured removing his brother's body, despite watching the video several times in search of possible clues.

“No, I don't recognise anybody. I wish, but these people are just people I've never seen before,” he said.

He added that he had shared the footage with his brother's friends in the hope that someone might recognise the individuals or provide information that could assist the investigation.

Describing his brother's character, Yeboah said Owusu was widely loved and had a deep passion for music and the church.

He revealed that the 24-year-old served as an organist at their church in the Bronx and could spend several hours playing the piano to perfect his performance.

“He was loved by everyone. He would play the piano for hours and hours and just make sure that he didn't make a mistake,” he said.

According to the family, Owusu worked providing direct support to people with disabilities while pursuing studies in computer science.

His brother said the family was struggling to come to terms with his sudden death, particularly the absence of someone who had been an important part of their everyday lives.

He said he was also trying to remain strong for their mother, who has been deeply affected by the loss.

The family is now appealing for justice as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding Owusu's death and the identities of those captured in the surveillance footage.

Owusu's reported death comes barely a few days after 15-year-old Ghanaian Javits Frimpong was also shot dead in Bronx.
