Document writers in Coimbatore protest against faceless registration
Members of the Tamil Nadu Document Writers’ Association staging a protest in Coimbatore on Friday demanding the immediate cancellation of the HUB E-Tender process.
Document writers across Tamil Nadu will not take up any registration work on November 10 and 11, protesting the move by the State government to implement Star 3.0
The State government recently approved establishment of Model Registration Hubs (MRHs) to allow citizens to register property documents and marriages at any hub of their choice, regardless of local Sub-Registrar Office jurisdiction.
A document writer in Coimbatore, Kannappan, said that about 600 document writers in Coimbatore district staged a protest on Friday against the privatisation plans of the Registration Department. There are about five lakh document writers in the State, including 5,000 in Coimbatore district. All of them will lose their job if the government goes ahead with the privatisation plans, he claimed.
A similar system functions in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The entire registration process will be managed by a private agency and most of the work can be done online. The fee structure will also change for the public. This move will impact almost 15 lakh people who are involved in the registration process, he added.
Hence, the document writers have planned a series of protests in Tamil Nadu.
