The Kochi City cyber crime police have launched an investigation into an alleged online fraud in which LuLu Group was duped of ₹1.64 crore. Unidentified people reportedly cheated the group by impersonating representatives of an Italy-based company that has been its long-term business partner. The police registered a case on a complaint from the group’s legal manager.

The alleged crime took place between September 2 and 29, 2026, according to the first information report (FIR).

Unidentified people allegedly used fake email addresses resembling the Italian firm’s official addresses to communicate with the complainant firm. They sent invoices claiming payment of an outstanding amount for the purchase of gaming equipment and persuaded the firm to transfer 1,50,500 euros (approximately ₹1.64 crore) to a bank account they provided, the FIR stated.

The case has been registered on charges including cheating, impersonation, and forgery of electronic records.
