Adrushya Kadasiddheshwar Swami of Kanneri Mutt has proposed establishing the Basavadhama Centre of Excellence, an initiative to provide coaching for competitive examinations and career development opportunities for youngsters. The centre is expected to commence operations by June 2027.
Speaking at the press conference here on Saturday, he said the Basavadhama would initially function from a rented building in the vicinity of either Hubballi or Belagavi, with the location yet to be finalised. A permanent establishment would be developed at a later stage, he said.
The centre would offer coaching for the Indian Administrative Service and Karnataka Administrative Service examinations, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, and the Karnataka Public Service Commission, respectively, besides recruitment examinations for the Railways, judiciary and banking sectors. It would also provide training in skill development, entrepreneurship and start-ups, along with interview preparation sessions to help candidates improve their confidence and communication skills.
According to him, the first batch would comprise 2,000 students, with 1,000 seats each for boys and girls. Admission would be based on a mandatory entrance examination. The proposed annual fees would be ₹40,000 and ₹25,000 under different categories, depending on the financial background of candidates. Students unable to afford the fees would be admitted at a nominal annual fee of ₹1, he said.
The centre would have separate residential hostel facilities for male and female students, along with digital learning facilities and physical libraries to support candidates preparing for competitive examinations.
The project would require an initial investment of ₹150 crore. He appealed to educational institutions, business establishments, industrialists and cooperative societies to contribute to the initiative.
Replying to a question, Kadasiddeshwara Swami said that the Basavadhama is being planned along the lines of Sardar Dham in Gujarat, which provides educational and career support to young people. Basavadhama is also expected to be expanded to all divisional headquarters across the State in the coming years.
