November 7 is the day Dr. B.R. Ambedkar first entered school.

Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor C. Shivaraju has requested the Karnataka government to declare November 7, the day Dr. B.R. Ambedkar first entered school, as State Students’ Day and celebrate it across Karnataka.

Speaking at the Students’ Day celebration organised by the Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Central Library at Bangalore University, Prof. Shivaraju said that Dr. Ambedkar firmly believed education was the most powerful tool for transforming human lives and bringing about social change. “His life and achievements stand as an inspiration to students, demonstrating the importance of education in overcoming social barriers and achieving excellence,” he said.

Referring to Maharashtra, where November 7 is observed as Students’ Day, he said Bangalore University would submit a request to the Karnataka government to introduce a similar celebration across the State on the day.

Central Library Librarian Raghunandan said Bangalore University had initiated a signature campaign to support the demand.
