Rajasthan has received a national award for its outstanding performance under the Renewable Energy State Assessment Framework (RE-SAF), developed by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan gave away the award at a function in New Delhi over the weekend.
Rajasthan Minister of State for Energy Heeralal Nagar, who received the award, said the State had emerged as the country’s largest green energy hub over the years. “The State now has an installed renewable energy capacity of 51.6 GW and a solar power capacity of 45 GW,” Mr. Nagar said.
Mr. Nagar said the State was playing a “pivotal role” in achieving the national goal of 500 GW non-fossil fuel-based installed power capacity by 2030. With the new milestones in the renewable energy sector, Rajasthan had received top honours under RE-SAF developed by the Union Ministry in collaboration with the Power Finance Corporation, he said.
The evaluation of States under RE-SAF was conducted based on several critical parameters, including renewable energy development, policy and regulatory frameworks, grid readiness, power discom performance, and an investment-friendly environment.
Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation’s Chairman and Managing Director Rohit Gupta was among those present on the occasion.
