Two murder-for-gain cases involving the killing of two elderly women, aged 103 and 80, in Vachunur village of Thimmapur mandal in August and October this year have been solved, with the LMD police arresting four accused in Karimnagar on Saturday.

The police identified the arrested persons as Madduri Sai, 24, Kinnera Raju, 25, A. Raju, 25, and M. Pavan Kumar, 28, all residents of Vachunur. Another accused is absconding.

According to the police, the accused allegedly suffocated Bhudamma, 103, at her residence on August 16, and murdered another elderly woman, Lachavva, 80, who also lived alone in the same village on October 31. They allegedly stole gold ornaments belonging to both victims.

An intensive investigation by the LMD police into the two cases led to the identification and arrest of the four accused.
