LUANDA, ANGOLA, 7 November 2026 — Ghana has secured a significant leadership position in African tennis following the election of Mr Isaac Aboagye Duah, President of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF), as President of the West Africa Zone and Vice President of Tennis Africa. Mr Duah was elected unopposed at the Tennis Africa Annual General Meeting held in Luanda, Angola, filling the vacancy created by the passing of former Zone President, Ing.

Ifedayo Akindoju Dayo, last year. In accordance with the Tennis Africa Constitution, the position was filled through an election at the next AGM. The West Africa Zone comprises 15 countries. Mr Duah’s election presents an opportunity for Ghana to contribute more directly to continental tennis governance and for the sub-region to strengthen cooperation in developing the sport.

A Record of Inclusive Leadership Mr Duah has served as President of the Ghana Tennis Federation since 2017. His tenure has focused on inclusive governance, stakeholder engagement, and creating opportunities for the growth of tennis. Two significant initiatives stand out. First, he championed the recognition of players, coaches, officiating officials and clubs as delegates at the highest decision-making body of tennis governance in Ghana, ensuring that key stakeholders have a voice in shaping the sport’s future.

Second, he has promoted an open-door policy that creates an enabling environment for tennis clubs and foundations to operate, partner with the Federation and organise internationally recognised World Tennis competitions. Under his leadership, Ghana has participated in West African junior competitions over the past nine years, achieved notable success in African 12-and-under competitions, and continued to represent the country in the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup.

Mr Duah also serves on the African Cup of Nations Sub-Committee of Tennis Africa, contributing to the development of continental tennis. A Vision for African Tennis Commenting on his election, Mr Duah said: “I am deeply honoured by the confidence placed in me and humbled by the opportunity to serve tennis across West Africa and the African continent.

My leadership philosophy has always been anchored in inclusion, collaboration and the belief that tennis can only grow when players, coaches, officials, clubs and foundations are recognised, valued and given a meaningful voice. “I look forward to bringing this spirit of inclusive leadership to Tennis Africa. Working with our 15 West African member countries and stakeholders across the continent, we can strengthen our institutions, develop our players and officials, attract greater investment and create sustainable opportunities for the next generation.

My vision is for an African tennis community that is united in purpose, strong in governance and increasingly competitive on the world stage.” His new responsibilities will provide an opportunity to promote stronger cooperation among national federations, expand junior development, strengthen institutional capacity and encourage investment in tennis infrastructure and competitions.

Academic Background Mr Duah is an alumnus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), a Master of Arts in Leadership and Management, and a Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK) qualification as a Chartered Marketer.

He received his secondary education at Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in Koforidua. His election marks an important milestone for Ghanaian sports administration and offers an opportunity to strengthen the country’s contribution to tennis development across West Africa and the continent. The Ghana Tennis Federation congratulates its President on his election and looks forward to his continued service to the sport at both national and continental levels.
