The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) in the Bono Region has lauded the quality of work on the Sunyani-Inner Ring Road Project, being funded by the government's “Big Push” Road Infrastructure programme.

Mr Gabriel Kwame Okyere, the Public Relations Officer at the Bono Regional Office of the NRSA, however, cautioned tricycle riders in particular against reckless riding.

Kofi Job Constructions Limited, contractors executing the 9.2-kilometre Road Project from Fiapre Roundabout, connecting the Sunyani Technical University, has asphalted the road.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Okyere said: “Our major concern now is how tricycle riders are speeding on the road since it was asphalted”.

“In fact, the office continues to receive complaints of recklessness by the tricycle riders, using portions of the asphalted road project”, he stated.

He commended the government for the ‘Big Push’ programme, saying that the inner ring road project had opened the Sunyani Municipality for economic growth.

Mr Okyere said small-scale businesses had started springing up along the road project, since it was asphalted, thereby creating economic opportunities for the locals.

In a separate interview, Mr Kofi Kamkam, the site engineer of Kofi Job Construction Limited, said 2.5 kilometres of the road project had been asphalted for use, assuring that the project would be completed within the two-year stipulated period.
