Youth detained for issuing hoax threat against Keralam CM Satheesan

According to police, the youth sent a message to the police control room stating that there was a high likelihood of the Chief Minister being targeted and that security arrangements needed to be significantly stepped up with the deployment of additional personnel

A youth from Pandikkad in Malappuram district was taken into custody by the Kozhikode Town police on Sunday (October 25, 2026) for allegedly sending a hoax threat message warning of a potential attack on Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan in Kozhikode.

According to the police, the youth sent a message to the police control room stating that there was a high likelihood of the Chief Minister being targeted and that security arrangements needed to be significantly stepped up with the deployment of additional personnel.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the alert was a false message intended to mislead law enforcement agencies. Police officials said the youth was taken into custody to verify his background and the trigger behind sending such a message.

The message was taken up very seriously by the security personnel as the Chief Minister was in Kozhikode on Sunday to open the 68th Kerala State School Sports Meet. Police sources said the suspect was tracked within a few hours after receiving the message.
