YSRCP accuses Naidu of personal attacks on Jagan for political gains

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) strongly criticised TDP national president and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for bringing up personal issues involving YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister, A.P. Congress Committee chief Y.S. Sharmila, to divert public attention from alleged irregularities in the local body elections.

Addressing a press meet held at the party office in Kurnool on Sunday (October 25, 2026), YSRCP Kurnool district president S. V. Mohan Reddy alleged that Mr. Naidu was resorting to family politics out of fear of electoral defeat. He was referring to Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s refusal of Ms. Sharmila’s request to hold her daughter’s wedding at their Bangalore residence. “Differences between Mr. Jagan and Ms. Sharmila are personal family matters involving property and marriage arrangements. The Chief Minister should not use them for political gain,” he said.

Mr. Mohan Reddy accused the Chief Minister of involving Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s personal issues instead of answering questions raised about the election process and the Supreme Court’s intervention. He questioned the sharp rise in MPTC and ZPTC nominations from 409 on the first day to 2,409 on the second and around 3,300 on the third, followed by a reported total of 57,626 nominations.

He demanded that the Election Commission explain these figures and investigate allegations of obstruction and pressure on opposition candidates and irregular withdrawals.

He said political parties should win through public support, not by preventing opponents from contesting. He urged the government and Election Commission to ensure equal opportunities, transparent elections, and public confidence in democracy.
