Accept results, close ranks – Asiedu Nketiah urges NDC aspirants

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged aspirants in the party’s constituency executive elections to accept the results and unite after the contest. Speaking at the Ketu North Constituency Delegates Conference at Weta in the Volta Region on Sunday, October 25, he said rebuilding unity after the elections was more important than individual victories.

“What matters is not who wins, but how that person wins and how we are able to put the party together after the election,” he said.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah explained that he had deliberately stayed away from constituency elections across the country to avoid influencing delegates or appearing to favour particular candidates.

He said neutrality was essential to his role as National Chairman, allowing him to reconcile members after the polls, regardless of the outcome.

“Everybody in the NDC is my friend and family member. If I select some of you and call you my friends, it means the others are my enemies, but I believe all of you are my friends,” he said.

He urged unsuccessful aspirants not to interpret defeat as rejection by the party. Only one person could occupy a position at a time, he noted, adding that other opportunities to serve could arise.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah encouraged delegates to let the best candidates emerge and urged aspirants to accept the outcome in good faith.

He expressed confidence that the elections would strengthen the NDC if members remained committed and worked together after the results were declared.
