Computer science student creates 150-foot long mehndi design on canvas

In a rare blend of artistic passion and technical discipline, a 20-year-old Computer Science engineering student from Shorapur has etched her name in both the India Book of Records (IBR) and the Karnataka Book of Records (KBR) for creating an extraordinary 150-foot-long mehndi design.

Keerthi Ninganna Hosamani, a native of Satyampet village in Shorapur taluk of Yadgir district and a fifth-semester student at the Veerappa Nisty Engineering College, achieved the feat by drawing intricate mehndi patterns on a canvas measuring 150 feet in length and one foot in width.

Demonstrating exceptional patience and artistic dexterity, Ms. Keerthi worked continuously for 15 hours and 45 minutes across September 4 and 5. Her record-setting creation featured a rich tapestry of styles, including traditional Mandala art, free-hand patterns, and modern Arabic designs.

Following a detailed review of video documentation, photographic evidence, and precise physical measurements submitted to the certifying bodies, both the IBR and KBR officially recognised her achievement and awarded her certificates of appreciation.

”It was my dream to achieve something unique in the field of mehndi art. My hard work, dedication, and deep concentration helped me reach this goal and enter the record books,” Ms. Keerthi said, reflecting on her feat.

Her family and the local community in Satyampet village have expressed immense pride in her accomplishment. Her father, Ninganna, who runs a local grocery shop, and her mother, Basamma, a homemaker, voiced hope that her achievement would inspire other rural youths.

”Rural talent like Keerthi must come forward to showcase their capabilities on national platforms and bring honour to the entire region,” Mr. Ninganna said.

Praising her effort, Sanganna Gulgi, an advocate from Satyampet village, noted that Ms. Keerthi had set a benchmark for aspiring youth. “She has become a role model for young talents who harbour goals. Showcasing such skills brings pride not only to families but to the entire village,” he said.

The India Book of Records is a nationwide certifying organisation affiliated with international bodies such as the Asia Book of Records and the World Records Union, while the Karnataka Book of Records specifically documents and honours exceptional talent originating within the State.
