The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executives in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency have apologised to Agonamanhene, Obirikomfo Anokye Boakye II, over what they describe as a clerical error in an invitation to the Member of Parliament, Mavis Nkansah-Boadu, for the MNB Inter-Senior High School Football Tournament. “We deeply regret this inadvertent error and assure Agonamanhene and the Agona Traditional Council that it was entirely unintentional, was not borne out of disrespect, and will not happen again,” the statement wrote.

In a statement dated October 23, 2026, the executives acknowledged that the Paramount Chief was addressed as “Chief” instead of “Paramount Chief” in the invitation.

They expressed regret over the error, insisting it was unintentional and not intended to disrespect the traditional authority.

“We deeply regret this inadvertent error and assure Agonamanhene and the Agona Traditional Council that it was entirely unintentional, was not borne out of disrespect, and will not happen again,” the statement wrote.

The executives also apologised for the MP's absence from the enstoolment ceremony of Agonamanhene, explaining that she was represented by party executives, family members, the former District Chief Executive and the Presiding Member of the Sekyere South Municipal Assembly.

They further disclosed that drinks, water, schnapps and other items were presented as gestures of goodwill and respect.

According to the statement, the MP had made two separate attempts to visit Agonamanhene after the enstoolment to pay her respects, but both attempts were unsuccessful.

The executives also defended the MNB Inter-Senior High School Football Tournament, describing it as a youth development initiative aimed at providing recreational opportunities and exposing young football talents to scouts.

They said the MP had invested substantial financial resources in the competition to create opportunities for young people and support their future development.

The statement further reaffirmed their respect for traditional authorities, recognising their role in preserving cultural heritage, promoting peace and advancing community development.

The constituency executives pledged their continued support for the MP and commitment to maintaining cordial relations with Agonamanhene and the Agona Traditional Council in the interest of peace, unity and development.
